Thursday and Friday we celebrate Grandparent's Day at preschool. How wonderful it was to see all of the kiddos with their grandparents and even some great grandparents.
The kiddos showed their grandparents around the room, showing them where their coat cubbie was, how they found their name and hung it next to their picture (like an attendance board) and then showed them how much their grass seeds have grown when they watered them.
Ms. T had helped me come up with some activities for the kiddos to participate in with their grandparents. These are activities that we do frequently at school. Both classes used the same activities but we added a phonics game into the MWF class.
There was a station for handwriting where the kiddos showed their grandparents how their wrote their first names (TTH class) or last names (MWF class). We also had a large station for donuts and juice :)
Another station was a game Ms. T made to review numbers and counting. The kiddos identify the number on the flower card and then use clothes pins to put on the card.
We also had a letter matching station. They had to match the upper case letter on the ice cream cone to the correct lower case letter on the ice cream scoop.
Finally, we used a phonics game where the kiddos figured out what letter each picture began with and covered it up with a lamb that had that letter on it.
We ended the day by reading Pete the Cat: I love my White Shoes as a whole class and participating in music activities like Hi, My Name is Joe, the fish song, the Hokey Pokey, Popcorn Time and Can't Wait to Celebrate.
Grandparent's Day was so much fun and we are so thankful for everyone who was able to come!
